Dreamy Champagne and Blush Detroit Wedding: Lindsay + Ray

As I walked into the bridal suite at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center the stormy clouds that had been dominating the morning sky had finally started to dissipate. Lindsay breathed a sigh of relief at the news of a rain-free wedding day and she finished up with her hair and make-up styling. The Detroit skyline and river were the backdrop on this dreamy day, with elements of the city finding it's way onto the invitations and reception decor.

With its overcast skies. romantic yet simple blush, pewter, and champagne color palette, picturesque river views and lovely peonies, Lindsay and Ray's wedding was perfection! In addition to the waterfront and downtown celebration, Lindsay and Ray elected to see each other before the ceremony. After stepping into her wedding dress, Lindsay seemed to almost float to the rooftop where Ray was waiting for her. . . When it comes to photography, the first look is always a more intimate private moment just for the couple. I love these moments as they foster really amazing, natural moments of joy and love (and even a tear or too)!

As the excitement of the day really took hold, we traveled downtown to Comerica Park and Belle Isle for some romantic portraits. Opting for a first look allowed Lindsay and Ray more time to really enjoy the morning together and allowed for plenty of time for some amazing picture opportunities! One of the most important things Lindsay told me before the wedding was that they wanted to keep the focus of the day on their love for each other and to have fun with friends and family while incorporating the city of Detroit.

The riverfront ceremony and reception were held at the Roostertail and Lindsay was lead down the aisle by her father. Ray looked on in awe at his beautiful bride who met her sweet daughters half way down the aisle and they brought her the rest of the way to Ray's out stretched hand. As the night continued, everyone spoke words of hope and well wishes for the couple, enjoyed spiced apple cider and donuts instead of the traditional wedding cake, laughter was shared, some pretty impressive dance moves came out, and the love in the room was beyond evident.

Lindsay + Ray I am so honored to have been your photographer and truly loved being apart of your special and important day! I wish you both nothing but love and adventures together!

Love Always,

Courtney Carolyn
