Throwback Thursday, Travel Addition: Oia, Santorini

I wanted to feature something a little different on the blog today; travel! I have some serious wanderlust right now for warm breezes, hot sand, and the big blue ocean because I keep seeing my photographer friends jet off to Hawaii and Jamaica . . . So jealous! But I am also reminded of how blessed I am to have traveled as much as I have in my short life so far! Since it's Thursday, I thought it only fitting to look back on one of my favorite travel destinations of all time; Oia, Santorini in the Greek Islands!

Right now I'm blasting the little heater in my office on high, listening to my beach music playlist on Spotify, and I have my eyes closed in an attempt to transport myself back to Santorini, Greece! I can almost see the deep blue Aegean Sea and taste the creamy, goat's milk ice cream melting from my cone. It was 2012, and I had just graduated with my Bachelor's of Arts degree in Communication Media Arts when I was fortunate enough to travel to this dream destination! Santorini and Greece had always topped my bucket list, and as fate would have it as I neared the end of my senior year in college, the study abroad department offered a 12-day tour of Turkey and Greece!

I didn't really know what I wanted to do right after college - other then fill out hundreds of applications for Communication jobs all across the country - and getting lost overseas seemed like such a romantic notion that I couldn't resist hopping on the plane and picking up my camera. Most of the tour was spent in Turkey and then finally we took a 3-day cruise to the Greek Islands of Mykonos and Santorini before finishing our last 2 days in Athens, Greece.

It was on this trip that I reflected on my hopes and dreams for the future and found myself taking hundreds of photos with my $200 digital camera. It wasn't nearly as awesome as the camera I have now for weddings, but I like to think this little camera and the stunning scenery lit a small little spark in me that would eventually lead me to my passion of being a full-time wedding photographer!

I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from my time on Santorini and I have resolved that I didn't document it throughly enough in the 2 days I was there so I may have to go back to further document it!

Love,

Courtney
