I was so excited when Lexy and Alan set up their portrait session with me and that I had the opportunity to spend the afternoon photographing these two cuties! I feel honored to have been Lexy and Alan's wedding photographer this past May (see their wedding day photos here), their engagement photographer the summer before that (see their engagement photos here), and to be a part of such a special time in their love story! For this lifestyle portrait session, I had the opportunity to photograph them, again, at another extremely special time in their life together; before the arrival of their first baby! Ahh!
I remember emailing Lexy post-wedding to invite her and Alan over to my home for a personalized preview session of their wedding images! I am always hopeful to be there when my couples view their wedding images for the first time because I not only love catching up after the craziness of the wedding and honeymoon have settled down, but I also get all the heart eyes hearing all the fun stories all over again and reliving their day with them as we watch a slideshow of all the completed images in the comfort of our home! I truly care about preserving these moments for my clients and for the future generations who will also cherish these stories of how their family tree all started with love. So I was theoretically ready to pop open a bottle of wine and lay out the meat and cheese tray in anticipation of their acceptance to my preview session invitation!
I didn't realize that Lexy's email response, although not what I expected, could throw me into a series of "Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!" exclamations. I was in the kitchen making dinner when her email came through to me on my phone and Scott saw the notification come through. I turned and said, "Oh read it please!" Lexy's words of gratitude literally warmed my heart and made me want to give her the biggest hug. She expressed that they had such an amazing wedding day experience with me and that both herself and Alan tear up every time they look at the blog and sneak peek images, but that they would be unable to accept the invitation at this time! Scott read on and Lexy then said, "We have a little news of their own" . . . (DOT DOT DOT!) and as I heard the words I literally stopped and said, "OH MY GOSH SHE'S PREGNANT!" really loudly before Scott could even read the rest of her words to me!
Lexy and Alan, I am so unbelievably happy for you both and I just know you are going to be amazing parents! Even though you were both just as shocked to find out the news as I was that you were expecting, I love that you feel it is all in God's timing. I know you are super excited to welcome your baby boy ANY DAY NOW, but I hope you take these last few days when it's still just the two of you and cherish it. I hope these portraits will serve as a reminder to this very special time in your life, and I can't wait to see what adventure you both take on next!
