Their eyes met from across the bar. Beneath the bare Edison light bulbs and with the raucous crowd and rustic exposed wood in the background, Emily and Taelor met. Officially they both went to the same high school so it wasn't technically their first time seeing each other, but it did make for a very special meet cute as they say in the movies.
Read MoreIt was the last weekend in October. The beautiful shades of burnt orange, brown, yellow, and red burst forth from every stem and tree leaf in sight. Alex and Nick had stolen a moment away from friends and had decided to take one last stroll in the amazing fall weather to take it all in before winter took over. Alex – a girl after my own heart – was so taken with the trees and colors that she snapped a few pictures and seemed lost in the moment with nature. When she finally looked up from her camera, Nick had wandered a little farther along the path and Alex found him in the middle of a crowded group of trees. Nick said, “Come look at this,” and then she noticed at the base of one of the trees was a bouquet of roses. With a smile Alex picked of the roses left against the tree and when she stood upright again and turned back to Nick, he was down on one knee with a ring!
Read MoreWith the potentially freezing temperature forecast for this weekend, I thought I would feature one of the weddings that I had the honor of photographing this summer! Looking back on Cyndi and Scott's destination beach wedding I can almost feel the warm sun and gritty sand beneath my toes. . . almost. :)
Read MoreThere is something energetic about living downtown in a big city. There is a pace that makes you want to wake up in the morning and just get moving towards your dreams and goals. Living in downtown Detroit has proven to be a fun and exciting time for Jenny and Pat. They really enjoy working and exploring the motor city together.
Read MoreAs I walked into the bridal suite at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center the stormy clouds that had been dominating the morning sky had finally started to dissipate. Lindsay breathed a sigh of relief at the news of a rain-free wedding day and she finished up with her hair and make-up styling. The Detroit skyline and river were the backdrop on this dreamy day, with elements of the city finding it's way onto the invitations and reception decor.
Read MoreOn a warm night, while walking the streets of Savannah, Georgia, Michael silently pondered just the right moment to reach into his pocket and propose to Ericka, the beautiful woman walking beside him. While his mind was focused on timing, Ericka's was none the wiser and ready to try some of the delicious food they'd been hearing so much about. Michael had to rethink his timing for the moment and the next evening, as the sun began to set over the big, draping branches of the Spanish Moss, he planned a private carriage ride around the city.
Read MoreDear Scott - The day we first met, you leaned in over the table in such a casual way that I didn't even notice you there talking to my close friend until I heard your laugh. I looked up to see you standing there, doing nothing particularly interesting or impressive to speak of but I felt the other sounds in the room drop away as if someone had pushed the mute button.
Read MoreWhile getting to know Kara + Mark in the days leading up to their wedding, I discovered that Kara is a girl after my own heart as she has read all seven Harry Potter books on multiple occasions! I'm even a step above her on the HP nerd scale as I have all seven on audiobook and listen to them on repeat while cleaning or when driving home from a destination wedding. (Weasley is our King!) So although they wouldn't be having a HP themed wedding, they did plan on having a beautiful celebration where friends and family could enjoy themselves and have fun. I was so excited and honored to be chosen as their wedding photographer.
Read MoreAmongst the hustle and bustle of the campus of Michigan State University there is a place that juts up against the Red Cedar River in East Lansing that is quiet, semi-secluded (if you don't count the studying co-eds), and that is a bit magical. For the engagement session of Maegan and Eric, we explored this secret garden, named WJ Beal Botanical Gardens, and I enjoyed getting to know them a bit better!
