Before Lauren and Marcus' engagement session at Belle Isle in Detroit, I sent them my Engagement Session Style Guide which includes everything from choosing the right location for your portraits to coordinating outfits to the little details you don't want to forget about. I think they totally ROCKED their engagement photos and can I gush one last time about their unbelievable outfits for a minute - gorgeous taste and Lauren has such an eye for style! I believe that because they were given the tools to prepare, that allowed both Lauren and Marcus to relax, be themselves, and to most importantly have fun at their engagement session! . . .
Read MoreIt was a typical Friday afternoon in my office when I started to feel it. I drummed my fingers across my keyboard typing out emails as I felt it expanding in my mind. If it had been a physical manifestation it might have looked like water boiling on the stove. It bubbled slowly at first and then became rapid until it spilled over the sides of the pot. It was a mental itch to get out of the house, get away from the everyday routine, and it was all consuming in my mind by the time Scott arrived home. . .

I feel honored to have been Lexy and Alan's wedding photographer this past May (see their wedding day here), their engagement photographer the summer before that (see their engagement photos here), and to be a part of such a special time in their love story! For this lifestyle portrait session, I had the opportunity to photograph them, again, at another extremely special time in their life together; before the arrival of their first baby! Ahh! . . .

Their wedding was held at the iconic Colony Club and at the majestic Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit, MI. At the end of the night, while dancing was well underway, I walked up to Molly and gave her a big hug goodbye and said one last congratulations to her on her marriage to Chris! Molly smiled and because the music was so loud she leaned in closer to me as she said, "We had so much fun with you today! It felt like you were just our good friends here celebrating all day while taking the photos." After hearing those words, the soreness and longness of the day just melted away from my body. Molly's words made all of my hard work throughout the day of looking for the best locations, the best light, anticipating moments, and staying on schedule so worth it! . . .

The fall is a special time of year for me in so many ways not only because it is my favorite season, but there are lots of colorful outdoor weddings, I'm meeting with newly engaged couples getting married the following year, and I also sometimes have the privilege of photographing my past clients again!! . . .
