I was sitting at my desk, back in March, and working my way through my Monday when I received an email in the afternoon from my college friend, Shannon. As I read the email for a moment I thought, "Oh my gosh! Did I miss her getting engaged on Facebook?!?", but as I read farther Shannon explained that her and Thomas weren't even officially engaged (the ring hadn't arrived yet!) BUT that they were starting to plan their wedding and were curious about my availability between July and September! . . .
Read MoreMy favorite place on Earth is Northern Michigan. To be more specific it is on the lake watching the beautiful blue water or enjoying the warm sunshine on my shoulders as I read a book and feeling the cool breeze at night by the fire pit, and basically never going inside! Northern Michigan is just so amazing and I was ecstatic when Maegan & Eric told me that they planned to hold their wedding on the beach in Oscoda, MI!
Read MoreI remember sitting down with Molly and Chris before last Christmas to discuss all their wedding plans. When the topic of an engagement session came up and Molly said, "Maybe we could hold it in Chicago where we live, " I almost fell out of my chair! Chicago is one of those cities that is so very near and dear to my heart. Having the opportunity to travel to the beautiful Windy City AND photograph an amazing couple at the same time!? I was in heaven! When we were finally able to discuss possible dates to hold the engagement, I amazingly had one weekend free in June in between all my other weddings so Molly and Chris invited me out! . . .
Read MoreShe had me at the words, "I think I'll be wearing a blush tulle skirt." When Marita, Kirt, and I sat down to chat about some ideas for their engagement session I was doing a happy dance as Marita told me about their outfit choices! I feel like day-to-day you wear what you need for work or for comfort, but there aren't many opportunities to really rock a blush tulle skirt. I always want my couples to feel like themselves in their engagement portraits, but in my opinion there is no such thing as too dressed up when it comes to the engagement session! . . .
Read MoreOn the morning of Alan and Alexis' wedding day the sun was shinning brightly (and melting us all) and they were both surrounded by the most important thing in life; family. Family is everything to this sweet and caring couple and I felt so honored to have been welcomed in as an honorary member! As I began capturing Alan interacting with his groomsmen and his brothers I could tell how much hope and love that they all have for him and Alexis!
Read MoreI arrived at the historic Packard Proving Grounds for Melissa and Jeremy's wedding day with so much joy and excitement in my heart! I had the opportunity to get to know Jeremy and Melissa at their engagement session last fall and they both are just so much fun, laid-back, and are always making each other laugh. Their amazing energy is palpable so I knew their wedding day was going to not only be heartfelt, but so much fun!
Read MoreAnna and Michael's wedding day in Hartland, MI began with bright sunshine and not one cloud in the sky. Anna prepared to marry Michael in the bridal suite of Waldenwoods Resort while Michael put on his navy suit and fastened his bow tie along side his groomsmen in a charming, almost southern style, house on the property called the Sunshine Lodge (which was so fitting for the beautiful weather!).
Read MoreWhen Tina told me that she loves the fall and pumpkin everything, I knew that we would be instant friends! Coincidence or not, the fall season also became the backdrop to Zach's proposal last September! While walking along the leaf covered trails of the cider mill with donuts in one hand and hot cider in the other, Zach stopped by the water and got down on one knee. Much to Tina's shock and aw, Zach asked her to marry him and she only had one answer for the man of her dreams; a resounding yes!
Read MoreThere I sat with the smell of coffee and the hum of conversation in the air and I thought to myself, "Wow, I really liked them!" I remember listening to Rachel tell the story of how her and Steve met in high school and eventually became engaged. She had the biggest smile on her face and at one point Steve grabbed her hand during the re-telling of the proposal.
