Carly + Matt’s Classic Wedding Day at the
Grosse Pointe Academy Chapel & the Detroit Golf Club
One night at a bar, ironically, named “No Fun ” in New York’s Lower East Side, Matt mustered up the courage to approach a pretty girl standing at the bar whose name was Carly. After hitting it off and after months of dating, Carly found a note in her apartment which was left there by Matt. It became the first clue in a scavenger hunt all around the city leading Carly down memory lane to some of their favorite bars, restaurants, and shops! The very last spot she arrived to was that fateful bar where they had first met and Matt was waiting outside. He dropped down to one knee and proposed to Carly before they went inside to the cheers of congratulations from her entire family who’d flown in from Michigan!
Matt and Carly are one of those couples that have such a positive light around them and more than anything they wanted their wedding day to feel like one gigantic party with their closest friends and family who just so happened to be dressed in formal attire and enjoying cake! Matt has a really great sense of humor and I loved seeing him make Carly laugh because she’d always lean into him to get just a bit closer and there was something so romantic about that.
It was a beautiful August day as Carly prepared to see Matt at her parents home and after she stepped into her elegant, modern gown, Carly shared an emotional first look with her Dad in their front yard. We all made our way to the ceremony which took place at the historic Grosse Pointe Academy Chapel. As the doors opened for Carly’s entrance, a Mariachi band began to play, and all eyes turned to see the beautiful bride who couldn’t wait to reach Matt’s smiling face! After the ceremony, we took advantage of the glowy sunlight streaming across the grounds for romantic and wedding party portraits before heading to the reception at the Detroit Golf Club.
Matt and Carly entered their reception in true Detroit form with the sounds of Motown playing in the background and encouraged everyone to get up and dance before beginning toasts and dinner. As the sun set, we snuck out for a few more romantic bride and groom portraits on the golf course which were effortlessly joyful and then the happy couple danced and partied into the night! Matt and Carly, your day was so beautiful and it will forever hold a special place in my heart (plus we’ll always be separated by 1 year and 1 day wedding anniversaries!). Congratulations, again!!
