Claire & Ken’s Art Deco Inspired Wedding
at the Emerald Theatre in Mt Clemens, MI

I can’t even believe it’s been 11 months since I photographed Claire & Ken’s apple orchard engagement session, and on their wedding day I was obsessed with how candid these two were with each other! They weren’t afraid to laugh loudly & be a little silly together and that definitely shows in their images.

When a couple feels comfortable enough to let their guard down in front of my camera I know it’s because I’ve made a real connection with them! When a couple lets me see a side of them that, normally, they only share with each other or with their families that’s when the magic happens in photographs. When couples embrace me or when they chat with me endlessly about their dreams and life together, I feel like I’ve made two new friends! And that’s how it should be!

On your wedding, you will have so much going on and the last thing you’ll want is someone who feels like a complete stranger invading your space. I want you to think of me as just another one of your besties on the wedding day and be a friend who happens to carry a camera, but also someone who cries, laughs, and cheers for your marriage!

Claire & Ken’s wedding day took place at the gorgeous Emerald Theatre and I think the “Rock Room” where Claire got ready is one of the coolest getting ready rooms I’ve ever seen! The mood in the bridal suite was light-hearted and filled with music from some of Claire’s favorite musicals and productions. Pro Tip for Brides: Follow Claire’s example and create a playlist for yourself the morning of the wedding! You won’t regret it, I promise!

After Claire stepped into her wedding gown with the help of her Mom, Ken’s Mom, and her bridesmaids, she shared an emotional first look with her Dad. We then headed down to the center stage for Claire and Ken’s first look and Ken’s reaction to seeing his bride was such a genuine reaction of shock and joy that you have to see it for yourself!! We were able to capture the beauty of the theatre during the romantic bride and groom portraits and I am so obsessed! Their ceremony took place on the theatre’s main stage with a beautiful alter dripping with greenery and lush blooms from The Rustic Root. Claire and Ken really made the rest of the night all about visiting with family & friends and tearing it up out on the dance floor! They also decided to cut a donut in place of a traditional wedding cake which was a completely quirky and genius idea. We ended the night with some portraits out by the theatre’s marquee sign which was illuminated with their names and wedding date! Congrats, again, Claire and Ken!! I’m so happy for you guys.

Love,

Courtney
